ARM to design Aotea Studios NZ
ARM has been appointed by Regional Facilities Auckland for a major expansion of Auckland’s Aotea Centre. Schuler Shook are our consultant theatre planners.
The proposed Aotea Studios project involves designing a range of flexible studio spaces for rehearsal, performance and recording. The completed spaces would variously be for drama, dance and music. There would also be places to eat, drink and shop.
As well, the project would include headquarters for significant Auckland arts organisations including the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.
“This will transform the Aotea Arts Quarter into a creative hub for generations to come.”
—Robbie Macrae, Director of Auckland Live
This is ARM’s first project outside Australia. We were awarded it on the strength of our previous performing arts venues, in particular the Hamer Hall Redevelopment, Melbourne Recital Centre and MTC Southbank Theatre, Sydney Opera House Concert Hall Upgrade and the recent Southbank Arts Precinct Masterplan.
Our consultants at Schuler Shook know the Aotea Centre intimately from previous and current work there.
