Ganga Woka at the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence

This Month marked the Ganga Woka (breaking ground) of the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence on Yorta Yorta country, Shepparton.

Working in collaboration with Yorta Yorta community, Elders, the Rumbalara Football Netball Club, Department of Premier and Cabinet and Melbourne University, the MCRE will be Australia’s first Aboriginal-led aggregator of pathways and tertiary education centre – a space for students and community to come together, reflect, learn, and grow.

The state-of-the-art education centre built in Shepparton’s major sporting precinct will embed First Peoples culture in all of its curriculum and programs, and in doing so, position First Peoples knowledge transfer and cultural exchange as a national asset.
