HOTA Lyric Theatre: Have Your Say
The HOTA Lyric Theatre, an 1800-seat venue designed to be a cornerstone of the HOTA cultural precinct, is now a step closer to reality. The City of Gold Coast has launched a ‘have your say’ campaign to build community support and secure funding for this transformative project, closing Monday 15 July 2024.
The new HOTA Lyric Theatre, designed by ARM Architecture, will host around 200 performances annually, including international and national touring musicals, ballet, opera, comedy, and live music. This world-class venue will offer an unparalleled experience for residents and visitors alike, while creating numerous job opportunities for local arts workers in the Gold Coast’s thriving performing arts industry.
Once operational, the HOTA Lyric Theatre will deliver significant economic and employment benefits to the Gold Coast, such as:
- $62 million in total sales contributed to the economy annually
- $28 million added to the local economy each year
- Over 1,200 jobs for local arts workers, retailers, hospitality, accommodation, and visitor-associated businesses
- An additional 250,000+ visitors to the HOTA precinct annually, boosting nearby businesses.
Since 2013, the City has successfully implemented the masterplan, establishing HOTA as one of Australia’s premier cultural precincts. The new HOTA Lyric Theatre will complement the existing cultural experiences within HOTA and expand the precinct’s offerings.
We invite you to share your thoughts on what you would like to see and experience at the new HOTA Lyric Theatre. Your feedback is vital in shaping this project.
City of Gold Coast need your support to encourage the Queensland and Australian governments to partner in funding and delivering this remarkable legacy project.
