Munarra Honoured at 2025 Victorian Architecture Awards

The 2025 Victorian Architecture Awards were announced at a gala event on Friday evening, celebrating the best in architecture from across the state. We were proud to attend alongside members of the Munarra client and stakeholder group and representatives of the Yorta Yorta community, who joined us on the night to celebrate the recognition of this deeply significant project.

The annual AIA Victorian Architecture Awards spotlight excellence in design and recognise the positive impact that architecture can have on communities, culture, education and the environment. Projects are assessed by independent expert juries across a range of categories, and recognition at this level is a major achievement, especially in a field of outstanding entries.

ARM Architecture is proud to announce that the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence received four honours across multiple categories:

  • Regional Prize
The jury recognised Munarra as an “outstanding example of regionally significant architecture,” commending its collaboration with the Yorta Yorta community and its delivery of culturally embedded design with meaningful impact.

  • Award for Educational Architecture
Celebrating the Centre’s innovative learning environment, the jury praised the coherent architectural language that connects the built form with culture, education and Country.

  • Commendation for Urban Design
Recognising Munarra’s careful relationship with its landscape and broader site context, the commendation acknowledges the project’s role in strengthening place-based identity and cultural visibility.

  • Commendation for COLORBOND® Award for Steel Architecture
This commendation highlights Munarra’s expressive use of steel in service of an architectural narrative that is both robust and symbolic.

Designed through deep listening and extensive co-design with Yorta Yorta Traditional Owners and the wider Shepparton community, the Munarra Centre is a bold, proud and future-focused project that embodies self-determination, community excellence and cultural strength. We’re honoured to see it recognised in this way.
