The Parklands Project is nearly complete

This new community is the largest urban renewal project ever undertaken on the Gold Coast. In late 2017 Parklands will be leased to the Gold Coast 2018 Organising Committee (GOLDOC) and transformed into the 2018 Commonwealth Games athletes’ village.

In a joint venture with Brisbane firms Arkhefield and Archipelago, we have designed and are delivering the six residential lots for developer Grocon.

The lake, arbour and water features, under construction, will define the village heart.

ARM Director Jesse Judd says at the Parklands Project, the future is the driver. Many public buildings will have a games-period life, such as a media centre or a mess hall, but they’re really designed for their post-games lives. “With athletes’ villages, there’s often so much fervour around the deadline and the energy of the games that people lose sight of the future of the place.”

“Parklands is not designed as an athletes’ village, it’s designed as a community, a new place for 1250 households to live with all the things they need—great streets, great amenity.”
