Tim Minchin rocks HOTA

It was a historic night of firsts: the opening of our brand-new HOTA Outdoor Stage, which is the first completed phase of our HOTA (Home of the Arts) masterplan.

On Saturday, an excited crowd of 3372 came with their chairs and picnic rugs to hear Tim Minchin and his sizzling band. HOTA’s expert team ran the venue as slickly as if they’d been working there for years and the Gold Coast Bulletin described it as “…a magical night of music and mirth that earned everyone involved a perfect score of 10”.

“…beaming staff, food and beverage options, parking provisions, clear night sky, BYO chair policy, gorgeous sound, huge video screens, suitably flashy light show and fireworks finale…”

Watch Tim’s interview on The Project, live from the HOTA Outdoor Stage.

“It’s really really gorgeous with amazing grass, it’s all outdoors and there’s an incredibly hi-tech stage…the show has a little bit of swearing but none of my polemical stuff…”

—Tim Minchin

Huge congratulations to our project partners TOPOTEK1, CUSP and the City of Gold Coast.

Next weekend the HOTA Outdoor Stage will host an Earth Hour 2018 celebration, Concert for the Planet, featuring the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra. Other artists set to perform there include Neil Finn (June 30) and multi-award winner Laurie Anderson (June 20–24).
