Launch Bellfield

Launch Bellfield provides 58 new social housing units to people on the priority access list of the Victorian Housing Register.

Bellfield is a social housing project that offers 58 social housing units to people on the priority access list of the Victorian Housing Register. The development is a partnership between Launch Housing, Homes Victoria and the City of Banyule.

The project is located on public land leased from the City of Banyule for 50 years. It includes 58 apartments with a mix of studios, one-bed and two-bed apartments. These apartment types are in significant shortage in the area, especially for those on low to middle incomes.

Like Viv’s Place, the project contains dual-key apartments and includes community gardens and ground floor communal spaces – a communal lounge, dining and kitchen as well as office and consult spaces, bike store and outdoor BBQ area (designed with Bush Projects).

ARM worked with Spacecraft Studios to integrate site-specific artworks into the communal spaces, including work from First Nations artist Cassie Fisher-Patterson. Her artwork ‘gathering knot’ symbolises the tying together of the five Kulin Nation clans.

The project meets Homes Victoria’s design requirements as well the Better Apartment Design Guidelines and the silver standard in the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines.

The project was built by Balmain&Co and officially opened in November 2023.
